The Royal We is a series motivated by the practice of “Aloneness”, and embodies the exploration of seeking comfort and company from ourselves. The series was inspired by moments throughout the Artist’s life in which they found themselves increasingly isolated, and yet discovered companionship within. In an effort to romanticize the practice of Aloneness, the Artist would refer to the duality within themselves as ”we”, dusting off the majestic plural and refashioning it as an agency of self-consolation. The Royal We aims to develop and display the intimate relationship of “we”, embodying the bond by means of visual manipulation and performance.
